Upcoming Events – CURRENTLY ON HOLD PENDING RESOLUTION OF FIRE DAMAGE IN THE CHURCH

The church building was damaged by a fire on December 12, 2025, and we are not going to be able to gather as a church there for a couple of weeks most likely. Please check back here for updates as we determine next steps.

1/25/25 Update – The building in which we have been meeting these past 4 years has been badly damaged by the fire and smoke and needs extensive restoration. Because of this, our time of meeting at 3677 E. Pulaski Avenue is officially ended. Furthermore, the smoke and chemicals from the fire have damaged essentially all of the church’s belongings and they have to be throw away. We are grieving these changes but trusting that He promises to use all things – even this – for the good of those who love Him, and we do love Him. We are actively seeking God’s direction for the future of the church and trusting that He will provide a new longer-term home for our use, but we are thankful we can still meet in the lobby of Allen Family Medicine Clinic for Sunday services in the interim. It’s small but it’s got heat, and it’s handicapped accessible, so we’re thankful for that. We appreciate prayers as we wait on God’s direction.

Psalm 42 has been a source of comfort in the middle of this, including these verses 4-5:
These things I remember
as I pour out my soul:
how I used to go to the house of God
under the protection of the Mighty One
with shouts of joy and praise
among the festive throng.
Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.

12/27/25 Update – Tim and James were able to set up the option to live-stream and record even in the clinic, so anyone who wants to join us remotely is able to as well. We will be continuing our study in Romans, focusing on chapter 4:13-25, but I’m stealing the first verses of chapter 5 for encouragement today:

Romans 5:1-5 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

12/26/25 Update – Due to the fire we stilll can not meet in the building. We appreciate Discover Church graciously allowing us to join in their service, but we have missed our church! This Sunday the 28th we will gather together to have our own service again in a small but free and handicapped-accessible location – the waiting room of Allen Family Medicine. Seems fitting somehow, since this is where this church was born, back in November of 2020. We’re looking forward to gathering with some of our church family again for prayer at 9 am and service at 10 am. We continue to pray that God will provide in His timing for us to resume services at our usual location, but for now this is where He has us. 4580 S. Nicholson Avenue. This service will not be live-streamed or recorded due to technical limitations.

12/13/25 Update – Due to the fire, we won’t be able to have services in the building until at least the new year, so Tim, Rachel and Nikki talked and prayed and considered options. Instead of scrambling to figure out where and how to have our own church services during this busy Christmas season, we are going to take this time as a God-given sabbatical from leading the church for a short time and are going to just be church attenders until our church building is fixed.

We will be working with the insurance companies to figure out how to repair the smoke damage and will need to wait for the all-clear from the various city inspectors, so please plan on attending another church until at least January 4 when we hope to meet again.

We know that God has a plan in this (Romans 8:28), and we are trusting He will lead us as we acknowledge and seek Him. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Praise God we know we have a Savior!

Our Purpose

We exist to encourage all to know God and be known by Him, to be witnesses to those around us, to worship God, to make disciples, to equip the people of God for works of service, to build up the body of Christ until we reach all unity in the faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to help the church mature, to attain to the fullness of Christ, and to experience and offer fellowship with other believers. (Ephesians 4:11-16, 1 Peter 3:15, Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8, Hebrews 10:25)

Looking for the Perfect Church?

Yes? Then please keep on looking! We are not perfect. In fact, the Bible says “if anyone says we have not sinned, we make him (Jesus) a liar and his word is not in us.” (1 John 1:10)

We are a community of people from all walks of life and varied backgrounds who know that we have sinned by falling short of God’s plan for our lives. We know that “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; that he was buried, and then rose again, on the third day according to the scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:2-4) We know that, though we are all worthy of judgement for our brokenness, God has saved us by his grace (undeserved favor) through faith (ability to trust God) so that we can do the good things he has planned for us. (Ephesians 2:8-10) This is the good news we want to share with others who are like we were – trapped by the knowledge that we can never be good enough or do the right things all of the time, carrying guilt and shame. The amazing truth is that God knows we are all incapable of being good enough, and that is why he sent Jesus to pay the price for all of our sins. This is what John 3:16 means – “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

If you would like to learn more about God with a group of people who know they are messed up, want to grow in relationship with God and each other, and want to share the love of God with the community and those around us, then come visit us on Sunday morning. Doors open at 9:00 and service starts at 10 am.

Think the Bible is some old boring collection of stories that don’t really matter? GREAT! We welcome people who have questions and doubts – we have all had them and still have some now. By the way, there’s no need to get all dressed up – just come as you are. You are welcome here.
